While pinned to the ground by the corpses of his fellow soldiers, Elliot Rhodes makes a decision: he's had enough. So when the right moment comes, he makes a run for it, deserting the Union army.
It's not long before he runs into Sam Wallace, a Confederate deserter with nerves of steel (or at least that's what he claims). Now the two former enemies must work together to avoid capture.
But in their attempt to escape the horrors of war, Elliot and Sam find themselves stuck between a rock and a hard place. Go North, and Elliot will be hung for desertion while Sam faces a slow, disease driven death in a POW camp. Go South and their roles are reversed, but their fate remains the same.
Can these two mismatched misfits find peace in a society engulfed by war? Or must they embrace the violence that rages around them in order to survive... |
